Musée National du Papier

"Presentation of different surfaces for writing on, before the advent of paper, samples of art paper and types of watermarked paper, measuring instruments used in the paper-making industry, archival documents, models of machinery and a paper mill maquette, machines and tools used in traditional paper-making. Housed in an old orphanage built in the 19th century with a listed façade. Archives coming from Belgian paper works, mainly in the Malmédy region (Intermills Steinbach and Intermills Pont de Warche factories).196 La Famenne MuseumThe self-appointed task of the Museum of the Franks and La Famenne is to introduce this little known region lying between the Condroz and the Ardennes, and its main city, Marche-en-Famenne. Its natural wealth has made this a fascinating part of the world. Nature, art, archaeology and traditions are all themes to be discovered as you make your way through the Museum's rooms. There is a particular emphasis on the section devoted to the world of the Franks. The Merovingian cemeteries of Wellin and Hamoir are presented using the many magnificent objects which have been brought to light here. The museum is housed in the Maison Jadot, a superb bourgeois mansion dating from the 18th century. This house was for a long time the residence of a family of Marche notaries. Many architectural and decorative features have been preserved, in particular in two rooms where great trouble has been taken to maintain their authenticity."
